Bio-Cord Reactors/Water Treatment - Removal of Ammonia in Fish Farming Applications

Nitrification g-N / m3 day (using Polyvinylidene-Chloride) BC-3

In sea water:

  • For flat fish Circulation Method 0.1~0.14g - N / m2 day
  • For Shellfish Filtration Method 0.57~1.80g - N / m2 day
  • Aeration Method 0.17~0.70g - N / m2 day

In Fresh Water:

  • For Eels Circulation Method 0.05~1.62g - N / m2 day
  • BC-3 Bio-Cord 1m = 1.42m2

BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand)

Each type of Bio-Cord is made of different fibers. Because of this the surface area of each one is different.

The difference between each type of Bio-Cord is how the Bio-Film attaches itself on the fiber.

To determine which type of Bio-Cord best suits your application the following can be used:

BOD is high Binylon is the best.

BOD is relatively high Polyvinylidene - Chloride is the best.

BOD is relatively low Polypropylene is the best.
